FILHARMONY SHIPMANAGEMENT, INC. is mainly involved in technical management of various types of vessels such as bulk carriers and other Cargo Ships and has recognized the importance of establishing a safe and environmental protection policy. We are committed to use our best efforts to ensure that all our ships are operated safely, pollution free and to maintain to the highest possible standards.

  • Instructions and procedures to ensure safe operation of ships and protection of the environment in compliance with relevant international and flag State legislation;
  • Defined levels of authority and lines of communication between, and amongst, shore and shipboard personnel;
  • Procedures for reporting accidents and non-conformities with the provisions of the ISM Code;

Safety Management Policy

FILHARMONY SHIPMANAGEMENT, INC. (Hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has established a Safety Management System in order to ensure a safe, reliable, and environmentally sound system of navigation within the standards of the international shipping industry.


Types of Ships Under Management:

• Bulk Carriers

• Other Cargo Ships

The aim of the Safety Management System is to ensure that the Company and vessels are observing the laws and regulations concerning international marine transportation and ensuring the vessels' safe navigation and environmental protection. To accomplish this objective, the Company has decided to provide a Safety Management Manual which must be written in accordance with the regulations of the International Safety Management Code. The management of all of the Company's vessels must comply with this Safety Management System.

I will be fully responsible for implementing, maintaining, and updating the Safety Management System, ensuring that all activities run according to the Safety Management Manual. I hereby designate the Designated Person Ashore to conform to the requirements of the ISM Code and authorize him to be the person in charge of implementing the management system.

The Designated Person Ashore has the responsibility of implementing, maintaining and continuing improvement on the Safety Management System, instructing the master and the crew and reporting any non-conformity directly to the Designated Person Ashore

The working language of the Company Safety Management System is “ENGLISH”. All employees are required to obey the Safety Management System of the Company

The objectives of the Safety Management System are to ensure:

Our Works

  • SHIPBOARD INTERNAL AUDIT

    Conducted once a year by our company’s certified ISM and ISPS Auditors.

    Main objective is to verify onboard the actual operation and performance of the crew, officers and Master in compliance to the company’s SMS, ISM, ISPS and MLC 2006 Code Convention.

    Company’s checklist are utilized for the said audit and will highlight to Master and Senior officers deficiencies or non-conformities cited. Will guide Master on determining appropriate corrective action to ensure that any non-conformity or deficiency will not be repeated.

    The total cost of the shipboard audit is included in the Management Fee of each vessel.

  • Inspection of the overall condition of the vessel, not limited to hull, accommodation, machineries and operational records / files and crew performance.

    Company’s checklist is utilized to carry out the vessel general condition inspection.

    Carried out once a year by the company’s Technical or Marine Superintendent.

    Details of defects/deficiencies cited by the Superintendent onboard are to be informed & discussed to the Master and to the responsible department head for appropriate corrective action with rectification recommendation and DDR (Defect & Deficiencies Rectification) form and corrective rectification to be confirmed by the Superintendent and to be closed by Technical General Manager.

    Dry-docking indent are prepared by General Manager of Technical Department and try best to minimize cost for non-essential dry-docking works.

    Dry-docking and repairs of vessel are attended personally by the General Manager of Technical Department and by Technical Superintendent to ensure that dry-docking works & Class & Statutory Surveys are being done at optimum quality of works with shorten period of time stay in dry-dock . Trying best dry-docking expenses to be cost effective.

  • Our company scrutinize the experience and ability of the endorsed officers and crew candidates of our managed vessels prior being accepted and will be required that they submit to our company’s ship- specific training.

    Our company’s ship-specific training program comprises of one week extensive training related to their specific work onboard and the familiarization of their assigned vessel. Prior to their assigned vessel, Master, Deck officers and Engineers are ensured they have good knowledge of the vessel which they are assigned.

    Cadets accepted by the company must undergo rigorous written examination before they board our managed vessel and will be monitored until they can obtain and practice their licenses.
